MWL Post Season All Star third baseman, Brandon Waring was two for three on Wednesday with two homeruns and three RBI's as the Dragons beat back the Lugnuts for a second straight night by a final score of 5-4.
Brandon's skill at the plate was matched by Jeremy Horst's sparkling outing on the hill. He threw six innings of two hit baseball that lowered his ERA to 2.38 and upped his record on the year to 8-2.
The Dragons will wrap up their four game set tonight in Lansing at 7 PM. A Dayton win coupled with a Fort Wayne loss will equal the Dragons second straight trip to the post season. The Dragons are also winners of six of their last nine games.
Wednesday's other stats:
Neftali Soto: 1-3, .333, 1HR
Jeff Jeffords: Threw one inning of shutout baseball to record his sixth save of the year

It's hard to fault that classic piece of Clinton theatre in Denver last night. It was classic stuff. And despite the feverish speculation over her and her husband's loyalty to the new man. Richard Adams in the Irish Times, the whole thing added up to a statesman-like endorsement for Barack Obama:
At a stroke Clinton had confronted her supporters, directly, although in such a way that it turned the question back on those who cling to her candidacy to the point of withholding their votes from Obama. Instead, they were suddenly cast adrift on their own egos.
Such a profound challenge by a politician to her own supporters is very rare indeed. It's a luxury that only a secure and confident leader can afford. It also absolves Clinton herself of responsibility of what any remaining rump of her supporters choose to do.
And yet. The real problem posed by last night is not whether his former rival is counting on his downfall in November. But rather can Obama top out a substantial Clinton double of President past and (they hope) President future? Right now, Hillary looks the better bet (which, I imagine, is what she wanted us to think).
Maureen Dowd (obviously writing before last night's setpiece) picked up tensions before last night's acclamation:
She added insult to injury by coming out Tuesday night looking great in a blazing orange pantsuit and teaching the precocious pup Obama something about intensity and message. She thanked her "sisterhood of the traveling pantsuits," and slyly noted that Obama would enact her health care plan rather than his.
She offered the electrifying fight that the limpid Obama has not - setting off paranoia among some Democrats that they had chosen the wrong nominee or that Obama had chosen the wrong running mate. "It makes perfect sense that George Bush and John McCain will be together in the Twin Cities because these days they are awfully hard to tell apart," she said
Amd Iain Dale sees worrying parallels between tonight's monster outdoor rally and that disasterous Sheffield rally that many believe lost Labour it's 1992 tussle with John Major. Obama's poor showing in the polls and a subdued atmosphere at the Convention, may simply be what Anatole Kalesky calls 'buyer's remorse':
This distressing psychological syndrome, precipitated by the purchase of a superficially attractive, but unaffordably expensive or inadequately researched consumer item, could only have been intensified by the impressive performances of Hillary and Bill Clinton, which dominated all other events in Denver this week.
But, all is not up for the Democrats, or not quite yet:
It is too early to write off the Democrats, despite the poor start to their campaigning, because as polling day approaches, voters will realise that this election is not about the Democrats or Mr Obama or his relationship with the Clintons. It is about the Republicans and John McCain and his relationship with George Bush.
And, the McCain camp has gone negative very early in the campaign. That could be a sign of desparation, or a canny reading of the ambivalent attitude many still retain towards him in the Republican base. This reader's contribution sent to Kathryn at The Corner is priceless:
The problem is that at least half of the trial balloons that have been floated this week are huge question marks or downright unacceptable. KBH? Gimme a break. Pawlenty is a lightweight. And then there's the Dems he wants to pick. Ughh. Do me a favor - don't forget that the only reason we're supporting this jerk is to prevent the Second Coming. Otherwise, we'll all be very disappointed if we win.
In the meantime, Obama will to need focus the beer drinker, and learn to talk straight. As Roger Cohen notes: he's got some connection issues. He will need to begin to find an answer to that question tonight.

Hervé's Surprise
Thanks to Rebecca's intervention Gerard was able to agree in principle to the deal the next morning. He spent an hour with Levi settling the details. Levi had no difficulty in agreeing to a generous severance payment and immediate commencement of the full pension. He assured Lucas that the PM would sanction the arrangement. The chairman was in effusive mood, talking to Lucas as to an old friend rather than a foe. He advised Gerard that the party appreciated the sacrifice he was making and that he personally admired the nobility of the gesture. No announcement would be made to the press until Lucas was safely abroad and his address there would not be released. This offer was advanced as intended to spare Gerard embarrassment. Lucas felt oddly detached from the whole affair and able to discuss details as if they concerned some third party. He was not irritated even by Levi's transparent satisfaction and insincere solicitude. If any emotion touched him it was relief, a feeling of a burden shed. He had considered leaving politics and the decision had now been made for him. There would be time to write the book that had teased him for years. As he finally shook hands with Levi at the lift he mentioned the pleasure that writing his book would give him, and had the satisfaction of seeing the chairman's smile vanish as if a switch had been pressed. The lift doors closed, denying Levi the opportunity to ask about the subject.
Back in his residence Lucas made four telephone calls, one to let Rebecca and Ken know that the deed was done, one to the PM's office, to be told that Clive could not come to the ‘phone, and another to Hervé Calice. When he explained that he needed to see his friend with some urgency Calice invited him to Paris without delay, offering him a bed for the night. With another call Gerard booked himself on an afternoon flight from Manchester. By early evening he was in a Paris taxi heading for the rue des Vignes. Hervé greeted him at the lift.
Gerard needed Hervé's help to obtain a work permit and accommodation near Paris for his son who was negotiating with his newspaper to continue writing for them from the capital, covering French left-wing politics. During the flight Lucas decided that he could only win Hervé's co-operation by giving a full explanation of the circumstances. So it was that when the friendly exchanges were completed, he wasted little time in further niceties. Gerard talked for nearly an hour without interruption from his friend, except for the odd question for clarification. Giving a full account of his meeting with Levi, he described the evidence that he believed the police had on his son. Hervé allowed himself a slight smile when he heard what was wanted of him, and of Gerard's anxiety that he should understand that Ken was guilty. Having finished his account Gerard fell silent, expecting the Frenchman to remark on what had been said. Instead, Hervé rose from his chair and suggested that further discussion would be best conducted over dinner at his favourite brasserie.
To Gerard's surprise, his revelations were not mentioned until they were seated at a table in a quiet corner of the dining room. Surprise quickly became astonishment. ‘So you are sure that your son is guilty as accused my friend? You believe that he was an important figure in this Red Commando?' Gerard's affirmation met a broad grin. ‘As you English say: bullshit!' Hervé then proceeded to give Lucas advice similar to that received from Jim Wallace: that his house was bugged and someone was out to get him. Whereas Wallace spoke of Brandwood House however, Hervé meant the St. Aubin-sur-Mer home. He ended by stating emphatically that Ken might well have disliked Dean and his party, but he was not a member of Red Commando. Having asserted thus, he took up his fork and tucked into his starter. Gerard stared unblinkingly at the top of his companion's bald head, trying to disentangle the threads of what the Frenchman had said. How the hell did he know about the bugs, or what Ken was involved in? Hervé raised his eyes from his plate. ‘Your food will get cold, Gerard, if only for the sake of your appetite, let me tell you how I know that your son is innocent. We know most of those who were in Red Commando, and have known all along. Ken was not one of those people'.
‘We?'
‘Yes, Gerard, we, the French intelligence services penetrated Red Commando at its formation'. Lucas pushed his plate aside. ‘Are you telling me that you are in French intelligence'?
Hervé raised his hands, palms towards his friend, a smile lighting his long face. ‘Not any longer'. He then explained that when working in England on Gerard's HST rail system he was asked to assist in finding out what the Phoenix regime was up to. Paris had been extremely concerned at developments in Britain, especially as the French National Front continued to enjoy a strong showing in elections. As a patriotic Frenchman, Hervé agreed to pass on whatever information came his way. Reading his friend's expression, the Parisian wagged a finger across the table. ‘I know what you think Gerard, but you are wrong, just as you are wrong about your son. I never betrayed your friendship'. His rationale was that early in their association they were not friends, and he had assured his countrymen that Gerard was no extremist. Furthermore, he received more information than he gave. Because of his closeness to the then Transport Secretary, colleagues who were watching the politician's left-wing son at university shared their observations with Hervé. This was how he knew that Ken was innocent. Gerard showed signs of regaining his composure. He began to eat, his eyes fixed on the Frenchman's face.
‘And since those days?'
‘Since then Gerard, I am what you see, a bumbling politician doing his best to help a friend'.
When Lucas made no reply Hervé expressed understanding, but urged him to focus on the future. Because of friends of friends he had been able to establish that someone was working to damage Lucas through his son. He did not know who was responsible, but someone got to Page during the month he was under observation. Somebody who knew that Page had been identified persuaded him to name Ken Lucas as his contact. Also through friends of friends, he knew that the Lucas house at St. Aubin was being monitored, ‘and by the British, Gerard. I am told that it is the British embassy here in Paris that listens to your holiday chatter'. When two people were shown to an adjoining table Hervé fell silent and attended to his meal.
This silence endured as they returned to Hervé's apartment, Gerard deep in thought and the Frenchman sensitive to his companion's need to ponder undisturbed by further revelations. Once indoors, Hervé opened the French windows onto the balcony. It was a warm evening and the light breeze finding its way through the treetops was refreshing. Between the trees could be seen the streetlights of the rue des Vignes. Parisian traffic hummed in the background. Gerard found the atmosphere relaxing, dissipating his anger. He was ready to give rational consideration to the problem. Hervé's unfussy, sparsely furnished living room contained two deep, leather covered armchairs. Gerard dumped himself into one, while his friend poured a couple of whiskies.
Hervé listened as Gerard told him of Ken's protests of innocence and reluctance to accept deportation. Wrinkling his forehead, the Frenchman advised acceptance of a fait accompli. Repeating his claim of ignorance as to who was behind the matter, he warned Lucas that the unknown enemy was clever and dangerous. Exile in France would be safer than resistance. Hervé advised against revealing all to Ken until they were established in France. A young man with a strong sense of justice might act foolishly if he knew everything that Gerard had been told. The next morning Rebecca collected her husband at Manchester airport and drove him home. Gerard used the journey to brief her on Hervé's information and advice. She agreed not to say anything to Ken that would cause a rethink.

I was pleased to hear that Radiohead did their cover of Neil Young's After The Gold Rush at the Hollywood Bowl this week (and equally pleased to see him wearing those excellent tight red jeans he wore at Victoria Park earlier this 'summer'). There is something about a successful cover version that can really lift a gig; a refreshing shot of something new, colourful and perhaps unheard.
Michael Jackson: Swopping harmonies for haggis
On hearing, however, that Michael Jackson has teamed up with David Gest to record a pop album of Robert Burns' poems I was both entertained and horrified. Grotesque and lurid images of putty-faced Gest and the King of Pop dancing a Strip the Willow alone in a Scottish castle leered in front of my eyes. But I banished them and read on... David Gest, author of the superbly title book 'Simply the Gest', has revealed that Jackson is 'in love' with the poetry of Scotland's favourite bard and that 'he is our favourite poet'.
Perhaps the eccentric duo thought it was time to remind the world of Burns' lyrical genius, especially after he was dismissed as writing 'sentimental doggerel' by Jeremy Paxman. Or perhaps Michael wanted to get in on the British life that his family has experienced while allegedly shacking up in Devon.
But somehow, I can't quite see how moonwalking to Burn's classics such as 'Awa' Whigs Awa'' is going to work, nor Mikey J's unique vocal hiccup in 'Rattlin' Roarin' Willie', nor even dancing the Robot to 'Grace Before and After Meat'. Can you?
The pairing of MJ and the 18th Century poet is a queer one - not to mention Jackson and Gest teaming up (although they do, allegedly, use the same plastic surgeon), but on second thoughts, I think it might actually be hellzapoppin'.
Indeed, the greatest cover versions are the ones which are completely unpredictable and wonderfully incongruous. Do we want to hear Robson and Jerome's rendition of 'Unchained Melody' again? No.
Think of the magic Jimi Hendrix injected into Bob Dylan's 'All Along the Watchtower' a year after it was released. They had the Blues in common but the result was totally unexpected.Or Cat Power's rich aching grain in the tribute covers on Jukebox and The Covers Record. Her woozy cover of Hank Williams' 'Ramblin' Man' is unrecognisable but melancholy in a freshly lush way.
Or Ben Folds, Tori Amos and Alanis Morrisette covering Hip Hop beats. Or Nouvelle Vague's Bossa Nova-style reworking of 'The Killing Moon'. Or Winehouse's 'Valerie' - which should keep The Zutons warm for years. Not to mention Nirvana's famous cover of David Bowie's 'The Man Who Sold The World'.
On the subject of bizarre covers, there is a yet-unknown indie/pop/folk band currently monikered Impala Can't Swim (I'm in the band. Forgive me), whose cover of Latino bum-shaker Ricky Martin's Livin' La Vida Loca and reduction of Outkast's Miss Jackson to a soft lullaby could be the best thing so far accomplished (by them). Watch this space...
So, no matter how bonkers the latest offering from the King of Pop sounds, the results will be fascinating. Carla Bruni covering Emily Dickinson; I'm snoring, Scarlett Johansson covering Tom Waits; dull, dull, dull, but Michael and the Gestmeister rocking out to Rabbie Burns: Yes, please.
Just don't do the Eightsome Reel too quickly or someone's nose might fall off.

Word on the street (and on the ‘net) is that
Mrs. Foley’s baby boy is headed from the big time to the small time,
from WWE to TNA.
My advice: Don’t do it, Mick.
To quote the great Bruce Mitchell (as I often do), TNA is like
quicksand. No matter how good you were – no matter how good you are –
the minute you get there, you start sinking. Kurt Angle was at the top
of the card in WWE. Now he’s a third-rate comedian in TNA. Samoa Joe
was a killing machine in ROH, perceived far and wide as the next big
thing. Now he’s a whiny naïf in TNA.
That’s what happens when you get involved with people more
concerned with keeping their jobs than doing them, when your company is
owned by a mark and run by repeat failures. You go there thinking
you’ll have some say, but either you don’t know as much as you think,
or you know more than those who run the show and they resent it. If
you’re really smart – like Kevin Nash – you mostly stay out of harm’s
way. But otherwise, you get enveloped in the muck and mire and go down,
down, down.
Name one person who came to TNA from WWE and means more now.
Besides Gail Kim, that is, who immediately used fame gained in TNA to
leverage a return to WWE.
WWE is the big show, and everybody knows it. Wrestlers like Team
3-D have said so, in print, while working for TNA. The only people in
TNA who don’t want to go to WWE are those who can’t.
Mick, you might be disappointed by the way you were used/treated
during your latter days at WWE. It might anger you that Triple H calls
you “Homeless Harry” behind your back. Maybe your legacy isn’t regarded
in the light it should be – or maybe it is, and that’s what really
upsets you.
But if you’re concerned with your legacy, don’t go to TNA, because
your legacy will fade. It will fade just as surely as Kurt Angle – an
all-time great – is well on his way to being remembered as just another
guy.
TNA doesn’t need Mick Foley, anyway. What they need is to create
their own breakout star. But no one on that creative team is even
remotely capable of doing it.
Memo to Dixie Carter: If you want to save your house, demolish it
first. There is almost nothing good about your product, and you could
count the productive employees on one hand. As I mentioned in an
earlier column, TNA’s epitaph will be the mantra of those running it:
“You just don’t get it.”
Ok so im a little bummed!..,. I was looking at another couples profile and I seen that they had and interview already! How does that work? I thought that it ends tomorrow? At noon. Im a little confused with that!
So are they already picking people already or what? So if you don't get an interview does that mean you won't be on the running for the voting part of the contest?
So many questions, And I don't know how to get them answered!
I thought I have been doing a pretty creative on our profile! Well All I can do is hope that its enough, We really want this and would love it so much!
P.S -if any one can help me or answer an of my questions we really appreciate it! Also I can't figure out to put music on my profile! L
